Since it is still pretty cold out here in Calgary, I thought I'd do a post about my favorite types of shoes for this season. Apart from old trends making a comeback, I am also seeing some new ones which I am absolutely loving. So here's my list of my top picks that are popular this winter.

Over The Knee Boots

I cannot get "OVER" this! See what I did there?! Haha. No but seriously these statement shoes are just what you need to tie your entire outfit together. Whether you're wearing them with jeans or a small dress/mini skirt, you are definitely going to turn heads in this one! Head over to Missguided or Lolashoetique for some affordable ones! If you're looking for something that you can get a lot of wear out of, check out brands like Steve Madden or Stuart Weitzman! This one below is from Steve Madden and you can check it out here.

Velvet Ankle Boots

Velvet is one of those luxe fabrics which instantly adds a touch of glamour to your outfit. If you're wearing something casual, you can add a pair of velvet ankle boots to divert attention towards your feet rather than your outfit. I can totally see myself wearing a ripped white tee, light blue denims that go a little above my ankle, denim jacket and some bright colored velvet bootie! For night time, you could wear a dress, put on some stockings and then a nice pair of velvet boots! Here's my favorite one from Missguided!

Clear Boots/ Transparent Boots

Chanel you're inner kardashian with this one! The Kardashians basically set the trend with these boots and not gonna lie, I am a big fan of this one. Too bad that Calgary's weather does not permit me to wear something like this :( I'll probably wear one of these in the summer because I mean, just look at these beauties! They are versatile, can go with any outfit and you can dress it up or down depending on what you're feeling! How cool is that?! This one from Lolashoetique is just perfff. Check 'em out here.

As you may all know by now, the athleisure trend is quite popular with everyone right from bloggers to celebs. A good pair of sneakers can be the perfect choice for a casual day out when you're running errands. You can find good sneakers from brands like Adidas, Puma, Vans or stores like Steve Madden , Aldo Shoes. In fact, I went shopping the other day and bought a pair of sneakers from Aldo. Hint Hint - you kinow what's coming next! ;) Check out my fav pair here

It's been long since I posted a makeup post on my blog so I thought, why not do it today! A smokey eye look was on my mind for quite some time now but I didn't know what I was going for until the very end. Smokey eyes are versatile in the sense that you can completely alter your look either by adding or subtracting a few things. For instance, this particular look is amazing for day time with a nude lip and you can switch it up a little by adding a bold lip for the night. Since every girl has a smokey eye palette, this won't be too hard to imitate. Your eyes will definitely be the center of attention!

Below are a few pictures of the look and also the products I used <3

Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette - Tease and blackout on the crease and Busted on the lid

Loreal Carbon Black Eyeliner

Dior Show Mascara

Estee Lauder Double wear Foundation in Tawny 3W1

Becca Cosmetics Champagne Pop highlighter

Clarins Rosewood Contour

Milani Cosmetics Baked Blush Luminoso

Rimmel London Stay Matte Face Powder in Translucent

YSL Rouge Volupte #28 Beauborb Brown

Off late, I have been inspired to do a lot of fashion related posts. Not really following a plan here but this chilly winter season has compelled me to stay indoors. Staying indoors means I get more time to create content for my blog and also update Instagram. So I'm not complaining!

The deal with me and my friends is that we never plan our trips well in advance. Spontaneity is the way to go! No complains thought because somehow, it always works for us. Initially, we planned to go skiing but because all our schedules clashed, we couldn't make time for that so we decided to explore the other winter activities. When we reached Banff, we decided that we would go to Mt. Norquay for tubing. Since the tube park is open from 9-4 every day, we decided to have breakfast at our hotel and then leave in the noon. Tubing is a fun activity if you like sliding down the slopes with the snow on your face and hair, laughing away with your friends and family. Highly recommend this to people going in big groups!

The next day, we woke up early, grabbed a few timbits on the way and were all ready for another exciting day. We had a sumptuous meal in Banff and then left for Lake Louise to go ice skating! If you are in Alberta the next time, make sure you make a trip to the Fairmont Hotel in Lake Louise. It's nothing less than a royal castle! The hotel in itself is a huge tourist attraction but you can also choose from a variety of fun winter activities that they have for you. Before going ice skating, we decided to grab a bite at the Deli located in the hotel. Brownie points to this Deli for having some amazing vegan meals for me! Once we were full from the tea and snacks, we managed to build some energy for our next activity. Since the Fairmont is a huge hotel, you can get lost on your way so stick to your group, always! The skating rental shop was at the other corner of the hotel so we made our way there, got our skates and were all set. I tried skating after a gap of about four years and I kind of enjoyed it. It does take practice and some body balancing skills to master this. Once you get the technique right, you will look forward to doing it again.

Here's a picture of me from the top of the mountains!

Hope you guys had a good Christmas and New Years'!
