Scarves, apart from keeping you warm, add a stylish edge to your winter outfit. Winter outfits can get quite boring because most times you won't even care about what tee you're wearing inside those humongous layers. While I'm not a fan of looking like an eskimo during this time, I'd rather stay warm and comfy than freeze to death. Scarves come to the rescue during such times! A nice scarf, worn the right way can add instant glamour to your otherwise dull outfit.

If you look up videos online, you will find so many Youtubers show their favorite ways of wearing a scarf. Depending on the weather where you're at, you can choose from a variety of styles, colors and patterns to up your style game. Since temperatures drop to -28 here, I usually invest in thick, woolen scarves to keep my body warm.

Below are links to some of my favorite scarves on trend right now.

Do you have any favorites?

I wasn't even supposed to give away my age in the heading but honestly, it doesn't make a difference to me. I go by the saying, "Age is just a number!" - and it really is! The number changes every year and along with the number, you change as a person. Apart from being aware of the responsibilities added to my shoulder each year, my birthday for me, is a day where I look forward to celebrating with my friends and family. Since I don't live with my family here, my close friends are like family.

Being the hyper active kid that I am, I knew I would get exhausted looking at places, inviting friends and making sure nothing goes wrong for my birthday dinner. I had another friend who's birthday is on the 18th November so we both co-ordinated with each other in short listing the venue. We were planning on having a house party so it would be easier to accommodate everyone and also serve food and drinks. Unfortunately, we could not find a house since it was a Friday night and almost all places on Airbnb were booked. Since this option didn't work, we decided to go ahead and book a table at an Indian Restaurant called Taj for dinner and then a Shisha Bar called Cloud 9.

As far as my outfit for the night is concerned, I had planned on wearing a short dress for the night with a long satin coat. Considering how cold it was that day, I had to put on a winter jacket to save me from freezing in the cold. LOL. I decided to go for the "classic-you-can-never-go-wrong-with-black" outfit. I had placed an order for over the knee boots from Missguided and thankfully it arrived just in time for my birthday. Below are some pictures :)

I recently made a trip to the mall mainly to buy winter stuff. But which girl goes shopping to buy one jacket and comes back with just one jacket? NOT ME! So I picked up a few things that I liked and thought I would do a mini haul on here for you guys to see!

Excuse me for being lazy and not ironing the black t-shirt(HAHA) but that polo neck tee fits like a dream. I picked this long sleeved tee from Zara, thinking that it would be perfect to layer when it gets super cold. The maroon coat from HM is just what I needed to brave the cold - brownie points for the fur hoodie! I own a lot of grey tees but this particular tee from HM with the criss-cross back caught my eye immediately. It would look super cool if I teamed it up with a short black skirt or even black disco pants! Probably my favorite item out of all is the pink bomber jacket from HM! I absolutely love the satin texture, the quilt-like pattern and the soft pink color! If you didn't already know, I am in love with HM!

The fact that I have a love and hate relationship with winter comes as no surprise. I love it for the new trends and fall accessories like scarves, gloves, boots and hate it because I cannot stand the cold! When it comes to styling though, the season brings you so many new styles and that is what I most look forward to. Be it a different color, pattern or material, fall makes me too happy. For instance, this season, velvet/suede is the way to go! I've seen so many satin dresses, over the knee boots in suede and unique jackets with prints making a statement. With so many new trends coming up and old ones making a comeback, who wouldn't want to make heads turn while being warm! Here are some of  my favorite fashion picks.

I had to shortlist my favourite items from a long long list but this is what I have for now. I must say that luxe fabrics such as satin, velvet and suede are the most popular amongst all trends. You can either dress it up or down depending on where you are going. For a night out with the girls, I would choose the satin dress with a choker like neck piece and some over the knee boots for that classy look. If I am travelling on a long flight I would wear an oversized jumper with leggings and comfy footwear. You can find some really good options online on websites like Misguided, Boohoo and Asos!

I would like to start today's post by apologizing for the lack of updates here. No excuses this time. I'll dive right into this post now.

I've just been busy going in and out of jobs, sorting out the mess that I had made earlier and just procrastinating really. I have a lot of things on my plate but nevertheless, I am still enjoying every bit of my busy schedule. You learn from your experiences every single day, don't you?! So in whatever spare time I have left, I either indulge in a little bit of cooking, travelling or reading. Earlier this week, I decided to go to my local library and pick up "Big Magic" by Elizabeth Gilbert - author of the famous book "Eat, Pray, Love".

Before buying this book, I had no idea what this book was about. I had seen the movie "Eat, Pray, Love" but had never read her book so I didn't know what to expect. The book explains the power of creativity and how your persistence and hard work for your passion forms an integral part of the journey. The journey to follow your dreams of achieving what you really came to do in life. Elizabeth thinks every person is creative and capable of turning ideas into something magical and mystifying. She explains wonderfully how rejection, doubts, time constraints can become an obstacle but it is how you can overcome that obstacle to reach your goals and succeed in life. She gives personal examples of rejection and how it DID NOT demotivate her. Instead, she became stronger and stood through the testing times to become one of the most successful writers with two renowned books that gave her fame.

My love for motivational and inspirational books undoubtedly comes from my mum. She has the same taste as me and so I know she would love this book. I am definitely going to recommend this one to her. Instances from her own life combined with her simple and straight forward writing style make this one a good read. If you need some motivation in your life rn, go buy this one, NOW!

For today's post I thought I would do a little rant on Fitness and what and who inspires me to work on my body. Fitness has come such a long way and today people are so much more conscious about their bodies and how they want to look. Honestly, literally every single person I know today is dedicated towards attaining his/her fitness goals. Whether you are playing a trainer's DVD and working out at home or are a regular at your gym, being fit is on everyone's mind right now. Knowing myself and how lazy I can be (sometimes), I find it difficult to keep up with the rigorous routines suggested by some of these top trainers. Two of my personal favorites are Tone It Up a.k.a Karena and Katrina and Blogilates. Let me warn all you beginners out there that even though their routines may seem like a cakewalk, they will BURN your body. And if they don't, it means that you ain't doing it right.

You can do whatever you want to stay fit - Dancing, Swimming, Sports, Gyming, Martial Arts, Zumba, the list is endless. Sometimes going to the gym can be a little mundane and so it is always a good idea to incorporate different routines to make each day exciting. As for me, I like going on long walks and I try to do ab exercises at home. It is about knowing what your problem area is and where you are most likely to put on weight and work on that. I tend to put on weight in my tummy so I do about 5-6 ab exercises 2 sets 20 times each. Now, I try and do this everyday and switch it up sometimes so it doesn't get repetitive.

My number one tip would be if you are just starting out, don't be brutal towards your body. Begin with a few warm up exercises followed by light ones. You will automatically build more energy and stamina to exceed your goals with regular practise.

What are your favorite forms of exercise?

July was a super busy month that flew by so quickly. If you follow me here and on my social media, you know that my mom and sister had come here for a visit. Now that they're gone, I have time to get back to posting more but god I miss them so much! :( I didn't know how much I missed them until now. Anyway, on the bright side, it was a good change for me and we did have a lot of fun because I got to be a tourist in my own city. I honestly cannot believe that this month is almost over! Is it just me or does Summer go by really fast?! Anyway, I'm glad this month is over and I cannot wait for July because my mom and my sister are coming down to Canada to visit me for a month! YAYY! I don't know if I can do long blog posts for you guys but I'm going to be back with so many updates!

I have never really done a favorites on my blog before and since this month was coming do an end, I thought, what better time than now. I have a mixture of beauty and lifestyle faves so let's get into this.

Becca Shimmering Highlighter in Champagne Pop

I don't think I have raved about any other product as much as this one. Jaclyn Hill's highlighter for Becca Cosmetics is undoubtedly one of my best beauty purchases. The shimmer, the pigment, the glow everything about this is just so perfect. Apply a light stroke if you want a more natural finish or swipe the f out of that highlighter to look like a goddess!

Burts Bees Refreshing Lip Balm Pink Grapefruit

Canada's bipolar weather can often give you surprises that you don't want. Even though we've had pretty sunny days, some days were rainy, cold and horrible. I have always had super dry lips so that explains why I despise cold weather. I just put on some of this lip balm underneath my lipstick/gloss/matte lipstick. It gives me the right amount of hydration and also makes my lipstick last longer.

Milani Baked Blush in Luminoso

Milani's baked blushes are my all time favorite drugstore blushes. I've owned the Luminoso for quite some time now but I've only reintroduced it into my makeup routine now. This is such a pretty coral color - perfect for summer or when you want your skin to look glowy. Great summer blush!

The Beaver Company Natural Deodorant Lavender

When it comes to deodorants, I've always stuck with my ever trusty Secret Clinical Strength. I decided to pick this up when I was shopping at Superstore here in Calgary. The fragrance of lavender and the non-sticky texture has made this hard to not reach out to! If you love fresh smells, this all-natural deodorant is exactly what you need to beat the summer heat!

Colorpop Cosmetics Ultra Matte Lips in Beeper
Colorpop should really sign me up as their brand ambassador as I talk about their products all the time! LOL! Jokes apart, Beeper is a great brown shade(or should I call it 'Kylie Brown shade'). Whether you're going for an all-out smokey eye look or just want to bring out your inner Kylie Jenner, try this lipstick. Looks great on all skin tones and you can wear it either in the day or night depending on what look you are going for.

Girlboss by Sophia Amoruso

I decided to include a book in my favorites because why not?! If you are active on Youtube and other social media you might already know the hype around this book. It's EVERYWHERE. I went to my local library to pick this up and she said that I'd have to wait as there were 9 holds on the book. Finally, after almost three weeks I got this book and trust me, I haven't been able to put it down since then. Sophia's unabashed personality combined with her to the point writing style is what you folks have to look out for in this one. Absolutely loved reading this and recommend it to all my career focused girls out there!

Blue is a super flattering color for brown eyes in my opinion. Mix it with a smoldering black eyeshadow in the outer corner and you get the most gorgeous smokey eye! That is the kind of look I went for yesterday and I was really happy with how it turned out. Below are some pictures of the look and the products used.

Products used:

Foundation : Too Faced Born This Way

Powder : Rimmel Stay Matte Powder

Concealer: Maybelline Age Rewind Concealer

Can we take a moment for that highlight though?! Good job Jaclyn!

I always treat myself with a retail therapy sesh if I'm stressed, feeling low or even extremely happy about something! Sounds like the best kind of cure for just about anything, right?! It really is. There are days when I feel like hitting the mall with my chicas and some days I'm all snuggled up in my blanket and don't want to step out of the house. When I'm lazy af, what do I do? Open my laptop and look through the bazillion websites that deliver stuff right to your doorstep.

I've been a little finicky about shopping online for quite some time now but with the increasing options, it has only made it easier for one to shop. With the summer coming, I am always on the lookout for the best websites with the best styles and the best prices! Listed below are some of my faves:

Missguided houses some of the latest trends online. Personally, I am a big fan of the website as they have really really chic looking pieces for an affordable price. I absolutely love their coats, dresses and summer apparel. Shipping is also not very bad, I think it's $5 for Canada.

Asos is a British brand that has a huge collection of bags, shoes, clothes, vintage stuff, sunglasses, etc; You can find anything you want here - stripes, off shoulder, vintage, classic, boho chic - being specific is the key! I shop a lot from Asos because it has free shipping(YES!) and I love how they have everything that I'm looking for!

Boohoo is another great website that has a really good stock of clothes to fit every body type. They have petite, tall, plus size sections and a plethora of colors and patterns to choose from. Boohoo's clearance section along with some type of coupon codes every day makes it one of the best websites to shop from. Definitely check 'em out!

Forever 21 is my all-time favorite store. I love how affordable the brand is with no compromise on quality and style. You can look chic without having to spend a ton of money. What I like about Forever 21 is that not only are most things reasonably priced, you can find amazing deals in the sale/clearance section. If you are someone like me and don't like repeating clothes, this is the website for you!

I usually go to for shoes but I saw one of Desi Perkin's videos on Youtube around the holiday season. She looked like a celebrity modelling for their holiday dresses and I instantly fell in love all over again(with her and the website!). The day I started exploring more on their website is the day I saw so many different fashion items that caught my fancy. You neeeeed to check their website out!

My love for all things hair started when I was in my last year of college in India. Not only did I look up to my ever-trusty beauty gurus for advice but I would also spend a ton of time reading articles in various magazines. Like skin, your hair also needs regular maintenance and over the years I've known to value the importance of my natural tresses. To give you a little overview about my natural hair, it is very voluminous, dry and curly. When you are in a humid place like Mumbai, it's difficult to style it every day so I would just leave it like that. Once I moved to Canada, I was introduced to so many new brands of styling tools and hair care products, it triggered my curiosity even more.

As for the products I use, I change my shampoo and conditioner every month or once I run out of the bottle. I prefer using sulfate free shampoos and often go for the ones with natural ingredients devoid of  all the harsh chemicals. Some of my favorites include the Loreal Elvive range, Organix shampoo & conditioner, Marc Anthony, John Freida etc. There are so many in the market right now but my only suggestion would be to take a look at the ingredients before buying one. When it comes to styling my tresses, I absolutely love curls. One of the best advantages of living in Calgary is the fact that the weather doesn't ruin your hair(unless it starts raining, which is rare)! I use the GHD gold professional 1" straightener for these gorgeous curls. Of course I use a heat protectant spray before I start and some setting spray after it's all done. If you are new to curling your hair with a straightener then I suggest you watch makeup tutorials online and practice to get a hang of it.

I hope this post gave you ideas for hair care in general. Let me know what your favorite products are in the comments below!

I've been looking for some good quality brushes for quite some time now and when I stumbled upon this set, I had to buy 'em. Priced at $22, these brushes are great for someone who travels a lot as you can just throw it in your purse. As far as the quality is concerned, these brushes are very VERY soft and can give any other high-end brand a run for their money! If you're a fan of the color rose gold like me, you are going to love this. I know Zoeva does rose gold brushes but BH cosmetics is more affordable and you know you are going to get amazing brushes without compromising on the quality. LOVE LOVE LOVE!

This 14 piece set comes with brushes for your face, eyes and lips. Now, what I was attracted to the most was the fact that there are so many eye brushes in this range. Multiple eye brushes in one set means I can do crazy eye looks without having to rummage through my entire makeup stash. From smokey eyes to bold, bright looks, you got this girl! I have to admit, this is probably one of the biggest reasons why I bought this set.

All in all, I am really impressed with these brushes and BH cosmetics as a brand. They really know how to come up with the best products for all us makeup junkies. Do you have any other favorites from this brand? If yes, let me know in the comments!

When I have a busy day with very little time to ponder about what I want to wear, I just use this simple trick that solves all my wardrobe dilemmas. Instead of rummaging through my clothes(and making my room look like it was hit by a tornado), I keep a few pieces that match the top i am wearing. In today's post I'm going to show you what I would wear if I had to run from one event to the other.

Look 1

A casual look is always something that I personally go for most days. Whether you're going for an informal meeting or just hanging out with your friend over lunch, this look is perfect. I am wearing this lovely basic purple tee from Garage Clothing with ripped jeans, Aldo shoes and H & M bag. I don't remember where I bought the jeans from but Asos, Topshop and Abercrombie and Fitch have similar styles.

Look 2

For this look I have on this teeny tiny shorts from Forever 21 and Call it Spring shoes. Perfect for daytime with sneakers and with heels for a night appropriate look. You just cannot go wrong with this one - super comfortable and chic.

Look 3

Ok so I'm wearing the same heels from the previous look for this one and I forgot to put on a fancy necklace to make it look more night time appropriate but oh well. This long flowy, gorgeous skirt with cutouts from H & M is one of my favorite pieces. If you are going for a drinking sesh with the girls or just on a date night with your boyfie, this is the skirt that you want to make a statement. Also, this is a great option for all you girls out there who are short like me because it makes your legs look longer. Totally dig this look!

If you are wondering where I've been, I just want to start by saying that I'm sorry for the lack of updates! This is what happens when your computer just decides to give up on you one day! Working without a computer on a tablet can be quite annoying when you have pretty pictures to post and less time to fiddle with the keyboard's technicalities. Anyway, in spite of the all the difficulties, I thought I'd post something related to everyone's favorite weather - Spring!

What stands out for me the most, apart from transitioning to summer clothes is wearing bright colors on your nails. I am a fan of bright colors anyway so I just wait for this season to start desperately only to rock colorful nails. I have dry hands so Spring is the time when my hands recovers from all the dryness it has suffered during winter which means less maintenance. If you know how lazy I am, you will know how much time I will spare from my day just to paint my nails. But all the hard work pays off - especially in this season! So enough rambling and let's get on with my top picks for Spring.

Essie Mademoiselle - This soft pinky nude color is perfect for days when you just want a more natural color on the nails.

Essie Tart Deco - Two coats of this bright polish produces the best neon orange color you have ever seen. Of course, this isn't too flashy and can uplift a simple outfit and your mood! ;)

Sally Hansen Miracle Gel in How Nude - I absolutely love all nail polishes from the Sally Hansen miracle gel nail range. This particular nude is my go to nude that almost matches my skin color.

Sinful Colors Wonder Mint - At just $1.99, this brand is one of the most affordable brands with an array of wonderful colors. I am wearing this on my nails right now and I have received so many compliments on this already. One of the best mint colors that I own for sure.

Sally Hansen Miracle Gel in Sugar Fix - I fell in love with this periwinkle blue color immediately. What is there to not like?! You are going to make a statement in this one! :)

Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear in Mint Sorbet - I swear this post is not sponsored by Sally Hansen haha. How can one forget about this light shade of minty green that is natural yet so chic. You can intensify the color if you want by adding more coats but two coats of this are sure to give you good results.

Do you have any other recommendations?
